Lindye is a Junior here at Texas State University, majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Sociology. I found out that Lindye and I actually have a lot in common, primarily our love for dogs, especially small dogs and dressing them up in cute outfits. We also are both from the Houston area! Lindye deffinitly has faced some struggles after moving away from home, whether it be a not so great living situations (a.k.a. crazy roommates who shove Chick-fil-a under your door), to losing focus and drive for school all around. Long story short Lindye found herself feeling like college was just not for her anymore and dropped out. She has been working at the delicious 54th Street restaurant for two years now and was even offered a position as a manager due to all of her hard work. After taking a year off from college and having to pay all of her own bills and working she found herself wanting to come back to school and finish up her degree at Texas State. After coming back and completing her first semester of her junior year she killed it with a 4.0 GPA, and is on her path to amazing things. I have many friends who drop out and then never return, because it is too hard to come back once you leave. So, you go girl and keep up the hard work!

Texas State sexual assault survivors talk accountability, victim blaming

By Iris Gonzalez i_g125@txstate.edu SAN MARCOS, Texas – In observation of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, various Texas State students gave their insight to the topics of sexual assault, accountability and consent in student-conducted interviews this April. Sir Isaac Newton once stated that for every action, there is an equal and opposite consequence of that action. She didn’t name names or give details, but the fact still stands that Thompson was assaulted and believes that universities are not doing enough to make sure people like her assailant face the consequences they deserve. “The people committing [sexual assault] know that they won’t be held accountable,” said Thompson. “[Universities] need to start thoroughly investigating the situation and...
